Prof. (Dr.) Nitin K. Puri is an accomplished academic and researcher, currently serving as the Executive
Director of NIELIT Patna and Ranchi, as well as a Professor of Engineering Physics at Delhi Technological University (DTU).
He has been working at DTU since 2010. Prior to this he worked as an Assistant Professor in various colleges such as I.T.S. Engineering
College, Greater Noida, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow since 2007.
For 2 years he was a lecturer in Amity School of Engineering (ASE), Amity University, Noida, from
August 2005 - August 2007. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2004, from Cyclotron Laboratory, Panjab
University, Chandigarh. After his Ph.D. he did his post-doctoral research from Hong Hua Co. Ltd,
Sichuan, China. Recognized for his outstanding contributions, he has been honored with prestigious awards such as
the Gurukul Academic Award-2022 by NITI Aayog and DTU’s Commendable Research Excellence Award for seven consecutive years.
His career reflects a deep commitment to advancing scientific research, education, and international collaboration.
His field of research lies in 2D nanomaterials based devices for healthcare, environment, and energy-harvesting appliactions.
He is the lab in-charge of Advanced Sensor Lab (ASL) and Nanomaterials Research Laboratory (NRL) at DTU.
The labs have facilities for gas sensing, biosensing, water splitting, and many other applications.
He is also a member of various scientific societies like:

Over the years he has won several awards and recognitions:
- “Gurukul Academy- 2022” for Teaching and Research Excellence by Institute for Social reforms and Higher education Charitable Trust (NITI Aayog-NGO Darpan), Govt. of India.
- Got many commendable research awards at Research excellence awards at DTU in the years 2018-2022.
- “Invited Talk” on Inculcation of scientific temperament: need and ways on 26th April 2022 Maharishi Valmiki College of Education, University of Delhi.
- “Best poster presentation award” in an International Conference on “Advanced Functional Materials and Devices” (AFMD-2021), held at the Department of Physics and IQAC, ARSD College, the University of Delhi from 3rd-5th March 2021.
- Successfully conducted a three-day international workshop on "Fundamentals of Radiological Source Security" in collaboration with King's College London (KCL) from 4th-6th September 2017.
