Welcome to the website of the Department of Humanities, DTU

Our department is one of the oldest in the university and has worked consistently towards developing very good communication and business skills among the students.

The department offers courses such as Communication Skills, Engineering Economics, Technical Writing, Professional Ethics & Human Values, Econometrics, Managerial Economics and Economic Environment of Business. Interdisciplinary research is also conducted by faculty members, research scholar and students which they showcase at various national and international platforms.

Large number of national as well as international scholars visits our department to interact with students and to deliver lectures. As a part of Engineering Economics course, the students from all branches of engineering visit slum and prepare assignment on “How Knowledge of their Branch of Engineering can Improve Life at Slum”. During the last meeting of the Board of Studies, an award has also been instituted in the name of Prof. Amartya Sen which will be given for best assignment. During even semester of 2016-17, out of two assignments, Ist one has been linked with financial inclusion mission of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the students are supposed to train the slum dwellers about how to handle e-money. The 2nd assignment is about the Sustainable Development Goal of the UN and the role which can be played by the universities. On July 21-22’ 2016, we organised a Seminar on Social Responsibility of Higher Educational Institutions. One of the sessions was exclusively for the students to discuss initiatives taken by them to achieve the same. Mr. Aman Guliyani of the Second Year, Mechanical Engineering got the first prize.
